Salamander's story

Visionary ideas from the very beginning

The roots of Salamander go back to the summer of 1885, when the young master shoemaker Jakob Sigle opened his workshop in Kornwestheim. In 1881, leather trader Max Levi joined him, and in 1903, they were further strengthened by Berliner Rudolf Moos.

Together, they realized their vision: to offer good shoes with excellent fit at affordable prices. The founder had already registered the fire salamander as a trademark in 1899, and the “SALAMANDER Schuhgesellschaft GmbH” was founded in 1905.

This was the beginning of a success story - in just ten years, Salamander was producing over two million pairs of shoes, and by the late 1920s, the brand was in international demand.

Today, Salamander is a lifestyle brand. It is part of the AstorMueller Group, which also includes the shoe brand TT.BAGATT and the license brand bugatti. Visionary ideas still shape our over 125-year-old DNA.

And our values, which define our brand, remain unchanged. We combine traditional, high-quality shoemaking craftsmanship and durability with maximum comfort and modern aesthetics. This is how we create shoes that perfectly match your modern lifestyle and, above all, embody one thing: Lifestyle for Comfort Lovers.
